Rich Western Heritage
Since Wyoming became a state in 1890, its ranchers have taken great pride in the way they have raised their cattle. Wyoming has always been known for its rich western heritage, creativity, the rugged independence of its people, pristine environment, rich resources, and beautiful, diverse, unique nature. From the Grand Tetons of Jackson, to Heart Mountain of Cody, the Big Horn Mountains of Sheridan, and the Snowy Range of Laramie, the wide open spaces and grasslands are what make our ranching great!
Wyoming's ranchers and feedlot operators have worked hard, generation after generation, to produce consistently high-quality cattle. Wyoming Authentic Products sources cattle exclusively from these Wyoming ranches, with exact specifications for cattle born, raised, and fed in Wyoming.
Caring for Our Cattle
There are a few practices that our company, Wyoming Authentic Products, is extremely opposed to in the way some conventional/traditional beef production companies operate today, which include the inhumane treatment of cattle, the use of animal byproducts as feed, and the overuse of hormones and antibiotics. To address these and other growing consumer concerns, we produce and market a higher quality conventional/traditional beef that is labeled "Country Style" to refer to Wyoming Gourmet Beef's old-fashioned, "back to the country" way of raising cattle. This high-quality beef is called Wyoming Gourmet Beef-Country Style and includes these distinctions:
1. A trusted State of Origin recognition label: "Wyoming Gourmet Beef"
2. Humane treatment of cattle: "Carefully Handled Cattle" (Wyoming Verified)
3. Never any use of animal byproducts: "Raised on Grass and Grains"
4. Aged beef (7 ‒ 14 days) for improved tenderness and flavor for prime cuts
5. Cattle sourced exclusively from ranches that meet our high standards for great beef
Providing the Best Products
Wyoming Authentic Products is dedicated to providing the highest quality products. We realize that to provide the best product, we must treat the means to our product with utmost care. Although we believe that cattle should be used for a source of delicious meat, we feel strongly that the live animal ought to be treated with dignity and respect. It is because of our commitment to quality product and humane treatment of live cattle, that we use only "carefully handled cattle."
To ensure that this policy is followed, Wyoming Authentic Products uses beef from ranches that have been specially audited by the Wyoming Business Council. In order to pass the audit, ranchers must meet benchmarks as set forth by the Wyoming Beef Council Quality Assurance Program. These benchmarks indicate assessment of several different parts of animal handling and husbandry, including proper and adequate nutrition, properly maintained livestock facilities (fences, chutes, etc.), access to appropriate shelter for environmental conditions, proper animal health practices, proper handling of animals during movement, and humane management practices.
We expect all of our ranchers to abide by these guidelines without exception. We believe that by abiding by these standards, Wyoming Authentic Products can produce the highest quality beef products possible.
